 The creation of Five Penny Farm began years ago on two farms in Maine. In 1996. unknown to either of us we worked in the vegetable fields of neighboring farms, engaging in what would become a life’s vocation - to grow organic produce & market it directly to customers. Two years later we crossed paths directly, meeting for the first time as crew & field managers on a farm in Pennsylvania. It was here that our goals combined. Six years & four farms after it all began we ventured in to our own fields, taking what we’d learned from our mentors to create a farm business of our own. In 2002 we found our home in Floyd and began reclaiming the fields and farm buildings to prepare for our future full of new markets, a few interesting value-added enterprises, and our beautiful children!
